WEST END BARES: FILIPPO COFFANO
WEST END BARES, the hottest theatrical fundraiser of the year, that benefits the Make A Difference Trust, is back once again for 2017 with two shows on Sunday 29 October at 7.00pm and 9.30pm. You’ll find this year’s show in the beautiful Novello Theatre in the heart of the West End. Venturing into the land of OZ for this year’s performances, Ruby Strippers, promises to be full of fun and naughtiness. Going from strength to strength every year, there really is no place like Bares! Collaborating once again with the West End Bares team ahead of the show next weekend, we got some of this year’s stars in for a photo shoot and answering some questions all about this year’s offerings and what we can expect.
Currently performing in Aladdin, Filippo is keeping busy in the lead up to this year’s West End Bares show. For Filippo, “West End Bares is a night where likeminded people come together to raise money for a great cause and celebrate the madness that is the West End!” Ahead of taking his clothes off for Ruby Strippers, Filippo jumped in the studio and bared all for our shoot and filled us in on exactly what being a part of West End Bares means to him and why it’s important to support the MAD Trust.
So talk us through a typical day in the life for you right now?
Well, first thing I do when I wake up is make myself some breakfast and coffee (especially coffee), and get ready for the day ahead. I try and get myself to the gym and to class followed by a quick meal and a catch up with my friends before I get into work. I’m performing in Aladdin London so work is pretty fun at the moment. If I feel like it, and I usually do, I stop for a beer after the show with some of my cast mates. I then get home where I chill with my housemate before heading to bed.
So for those of us who don’t know, start by telling us a little about West End Bares and what does it mean to you?
To me West End Bares is a night where likeminded people come together to raise money for a great cause and celebrate the madness that is the West End!
So what made you want to be part of the West End Bares experience?
It’s a pleasure for me to contribute, even a little bit, to MadTrust’s efforts of raising money for such an important matter. And being able to do so by creating and performing with friends it’s an amazing opportunity!
As a performer there are obviously times when you have to show off your body, is that something that feels natural to you or are you nervous to bare all on stage?
I suppose as a performer you are used to doing so to a certain extent. However, when it comes to West End Bares it’s slightly unnerving to be completely exposed yet quite exciting.
Have you been doing anything special to prepare for the show?
I can’t say I have… maybe I should have done.
Have you been involved in anything like West End Bares before and what was that like?
I was part of the West End Bares experience last year and I must say I really enjoyed the night! The atmosphere was amazing and was great to see so many different people come together for it! So, when I was asked to be involved again, of course I said yes!
Can you tell us anything about your performance(s) in the show? Anything you can share about the numbers you’re involved in?
Well I’m sure you know what the theme is this year, but I’m afraid I can’t share any more information. You’re going to have to wait and see!
Why should people come see the show, apart from helping such a great cause?
Well the show is definitely entertaining and it’s a night where people have fun, dance and… get naked!
