WEST END BARES, the hottest theatrical fundraiser of the year, that benefits the Make A Difference Trust, is back once again for 2017 with two shows on Sunday 29 October at 7.00pm and 9.30pm. You’ll find this year’s show in the beautiful Novello Theatre in the heart of the West End. Venturing into the land of OZ for this year’s performances, Ruby Strippers, promises to be full of fun and naughtiness. Going from strength to strength every year, there really is no place like Bares! Collaborating once again with the West End Bares team ahead of the show next weekend, we got some of this year’s stars in for a photo shoot and answering some questions all about this year’s offerings and what we can expect.

Aaron Jenkins for CAJ by Nick Andrews

At just twenty-two years old Aaron has already achieved a lot in his career and seems only destined for more of the same. Having just opened in the production of Mary Poppins in Stuttgart, and previously starring in Wicked the Musical, Aaron is no stranger to the West End Stage. West End Bares however, will be his first time taking his clothes of on stage. Taking time out of his busy schedule of rehearsals and shows, Aaron  and gave us all the insight into what he’ll be doing in the show and what makes him want to be part of the show for the first time.

So talk us through a typical day in the life for you right now?

I wake up, have breakfast, usually rehearsals during the day at the moment because we have only opened recently, then warm up and the show. After that I go home and drink tea in bed.

So what made you want to be part of the West End Bares experience?

I saw the show last year and thought it just looked like a lot of fun! I have a few friends doing the show too so it should be a good night.

As a performer there are obviously times when you have to show off your body, is that something that feels natural to you or are you nervous to bare all on stage?

I guess as a dancer your body is always being judged so I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, but obviously you do worry about whether you look good or not without any clothes on!

Have you been doing anything special to prepare for the show?

Probably not as much as I should be doing…

Have you been involved in anything like West End Bares before and what was that like?

No, this is my first time going on stage without any clothes on!!!

What excites you most about being part of the bares experience?

Getting to spend an evening with lots of my friends getting to do something a bit different from usual!

Why should people come see the show, apart from helping such a great cause?

There’s not many nights in the year that you can sit and watch people dance around naked on stage for charity!! It’s a good laugh and the money that the MAD Trust raise really is for a good cause.

Quick Fire Questions With Aaron…

Before the show I will be… Eating, no doubt.

The last time I got naked was… This morning in the shower, but it wasn’t in front of 1100 people!

My favourite performance I’ve been involved in was… The 10th anniversary performance of Wicked, it was a really special night to be involved in.

My favourite body part is… A good pair of legs.

I became a performer because… I can’t sit still long enough to sit at a desk in an office!

My favourite dance move is… The worm.

My guilty pleasure is… Nutella.

I’m inspired by Maddie Ziegler. Kind of embarrassing because she’s a 15 year old girl but I love her!!!
